Bend 2030 Draft Vision
Validated by Scientific Survey
The vision concepts presented in the Bend 2030 Draft Community Vision have been validated by the public through a scientific telephone survey conducted in late April as part of the Bend 2030 Roadshow. The survey results show that 73 of 82 concepts in the Draft Vision were rated “important” or “very important” for the future of Bend.
The highest-ranking vision concepts were those dealing with:
- Education;
- Emergency response;
- Protecting the welfare of children; and
- Providing clear conditions for growth.
In addition, the survey shows that one in seven Bend residents have participated in the Bend 2030 process. Most recently participation was high for the Bend 2030 Roadshow with over 2,000 people participating to learn about and comment on the Draft Vision.
A total of 500 telephone interviews were conducted among a representative sample of adult residents in Bend, Oregon, April 28-30, 2006. For each Vision Element (or vision concept), respondents were asked to rate how important they felt each was for the future of Bend, using a seven-point scale, where seven is very important and one is not important at all. The survey was conducted by Moore Information in Portland.
